PABLO ZÁRRAGA, PADEL COACH IN MADRID : INTRODUCTION

Pablo started playing padel at a very young age and quickly became a top-tier Spanish player, competing in the FIP and WPT circuits until 2020. He participated in tournaments across Europe held in various countries such as Sweden, the Netherlands, Estonia, and Lithuania, and, of course, Spain !

His personal pursuits led him to travel extensively in Europe and live in Bordeaux for nearly five years, where he learned French and is now fluent in the language. This is quite rare for a Spanish padel coach! He later moved to Latvia, where he held the top ranking until 2020.

Pablo Zarraga obtained his professional coaching certification in 2017. With over 5 years of coaching experience, he also draws from his childhood experience as a top player when teaching his students.

Another testament to his passion for padel is that Pablo is a certified FIP-Premier (International Federation) professional referee and an FEP (Spanish Federation) referee. He officiated at the Premier Padel, the new global circuit that brings together the world’s top professional players. Pablo enjoys participating in padel as a player, coach, and observer, which led him to pursue a career in officiating at major international tournaments.

By choosing ToPadel for a padel camp with Pablo in Madrid (Alcala de Hénares being part of the Madrid metropolitan area), you will receive top-notch instruction with a rare advantage in Spain : padel courses in French, led by a true Spanish teacher who has played padel throughout his life !

PADEL FUNDAMENTALS ACCORDING TO PABLO ZÁRRAGA

In Defense:
“I find it very important to be friends with the walls and lobs. Padel is a game that changes a lot depending on whether you choose to play or not play with the wall. Knowing how to play the walls correctly and make them your allies is essential. Additionally, in my opinion, the lob is the most important shot in padel defense. It allows you to buy time and, on the other hand, return to an attacking position with time!”

In Attack:
“With all the technical tools that a padel coach will provide to the player (volleys, bandejas, drop shots, smashes…), the key is to know how to ‘construct the point’ and not seek to win the point with the first shot. Choosing the right shots at the right time to move the opponents and only finish the point when the opportunity is real and without danger.

BENEFITS OF TRAINING YOUR PADEL WITH PABLO ZÁRRAGA

With PABLO ZÁRRAGA, you can come to train in padel in Madrid while speaking French and experiencing the professional atmosphere that permeates this region. The training sessions take place at a club located less than 30 minutes from Madrid and will be conducted entirely in French.

Our Madrid coach, Pablo, will assist you in discovering the key padel locations in the Madrid metropolitan area: meeting players of the same level to practice with, even if they don’t speak French, or being able to attend professional training sessions.

THE ‘ESSENTIAL KEYS’ OF PADEL ACCORDING TO COACH PABLO ZÁRRAGA

“In a padel training camp, we will aim to work on the ‘right’ technique, always in the service of the right tactics. Indeed, you can find padel players with very good technique who struggle to win matches because it is employed in the service of poor tactics. As your courses progress, we will gradually work on the strokes repeatedly to engrain the motion, and then in more realistic situations for tactical application. This applies to defense, transition, and attack. »

BONUS : PABLO ZÁRRAGA’S UNUSUAL ANECDOTES

“It was by chance and for work that I found myself in a corner of Northeastern Europe, in Latvia. When I arrived there, the first four padel courts had just been built, and the club director asked me to help the new players. Playing with them, conducting training sessions, and so on. That’s how I became a professional coach and professional player in that country. That’s how I became the number 1 player in Latvia, even though there were players who already had a very high level.”
