INTRODUCTION & CAREER OF OUR BARCELONA PADEL COACH : ÁNGEL GONZÁLEZ
Ángel González has been playing padel for over 18 years. He was a top-level player in the Madrid community, which is one of Spain’s most competitive regions due to the density of professional players. He held the number 1 position in the “Castilla la Mancha” region. Ángel also represented Alcala de Henares University in the Spanish university championships and played on the team for Chamartin in the Madrid metropolitan area. He was part of the regional team selection representing “Castilla la Mancha” in national championships.
Ángel has been a certified national coach since 2009, accumulating nearly 15 years of experience. He transitioned to coaching on the Premier padel in 2019, starting with Alba Galan (sister of Ale Galan). Later, he coached Barbara Las Heras, helping her climb from the 20th to the 14th position in the world rankings. For example, in the 2022 season alone, they won in Aragon, reached the Masters final in Marbella, and made it to several semifinals in Reus, Alicante, Stockholm, and more. In 2023, after moving to Barcelona, he now coaches the world’s number 1 player, Ari Sánchez. Angel was voted Coach of the Year 2023 at the World Padel Awards in Madrid at the end of January 2024.
Outside of his professional career, Ángel is also an adapted padel instructor for people with disabilities. He works with numerous young players and amateurs. His guidance and experience will significantly accelerate your padel learning, regardless of your level. He is known for his kindness and personal interest in each of his students. Having the opportunity to receive padel lessons or attend training camps in Barcelona with a coach of his caliber is a privilege for any amateur player, regardless of their skill level.

THE KEYS TO LEARNING PADEL ACCORDING TO ÁNGEL GONZÁLEZ
With Ángel, you will focus on refining your technique throughout your training, but with an emphasis on using it to serve the right tactics. Many padel players may appear technically skilled when you watch them play. However, they struggle to win matches against opponents who may be less polished technically. This simply comes down to the tactical dimension of the sport.
As a result, we will cover all aspects of the game: volleys, smashes, forehands, backhands, playing off the walls, lobs, chiquitas, bajadas, and more. The goal is to initially work on repetition to learn or optimize the technique and then practice it again by mixing up the shots to gradually approach real game conditions. This is a learning cycle that will eventually allow you to incorporate your new technical skills into actual matches.
